Just curious......the CK20/Bobcat CT122's are listed at 16.5 pto h.p. This is less than most scuts at 19.5. Is it just the way Kioti/Bobcat rate them? Will a CK20/CT122 run a wood chipper? What size chipper is anyone running?
I have a Bearcat CH5540H 5" Chipper that I primarily use on my DK50. I have run it on the CK27HST which is below the the minimum stated 25 HP at the PTO by 4.5 HP. I was expecting it to not work but it did very well.
You have to feed more slowly but I think the big flywheel in the chipper really offsets the lower HP. I wouldn't recommend running that chipper on the CK20 but a smaller model should work fine if you are close to the recommended HP spec and are reasonable in what you feed into it.
They often have 'trial' periods of up to 1 year so you can try before you own it. Full disclosure: I did get one of their PTO units on the trial program but never actually used it. I decided my $ would go to some other piece of tractor equipment, and returned it to their factory store in VT. I do have other pieces of Dr. equipment and they are adequate for light to medium duty use.
If you plan to chip a forest into mulch then go with something sturdier; but then you're up against HP/output again.
