On my feeble attempt to repair and just before I through the whole $#!@?/@ thing out, I found the metal teeth on all 3 of the old pump gears would crumble when I gave them a quick twist between a vise grip and a pair of pliers. In IPs with failed gears, only one (of three or four) gears actually failed. If nothing else, this gives hope that the 180 degree fix should last a long time. Scott
I'm no metallurgist but I personally wouldn't trust them in case another failure happened at full throttle. The defective pumps should have been recalled as they are unsafe. For what it's worth.... my opinion is that the gears were brittle.
