Can anyone offer any advice. My ck25 suddenly started having less power, and rapping loudly and bellowing black smoke when I look for more power. The air cleaner is good and I recently had a new injector pump installed. I have decided (after months of diagnozing) I have a bad injector. My plan is to buy one injector and replace the bad one. I thought I would replace one and if my problem was not fixed, put that injector in for the next, untill the bad injector was out of the tractor.
Is this a feasable idea? Is there another way of identifying which injector is clogged. Is there anything I should know before I start tearing away at my injectors with a wrench?

If you question your injectors, start tractor, crack each line individually, this will tell you what cyl is not firing - engine will change sound. One at a time!

Once you determine which injector is acting up swap with another, see if miss follows.

Sounds to me like you have other problems. Take to a dealer and let them check it out.

It sounds as if you suspect something besides clogged injectors is causing my problem. What else do you think it could be?
The only reason I'm trying to not send it to the dealer is that I don't want the downtime in the middle of the winter since I clear every driveway in the neighborhood when it snows.

Sounds like internal engine issues. I would look at the hours then start diagnosis. Smoke can be a lot of things. Diesel engines will run on the actual engine oil.

Take valve cover off check valve clearances. Look at push rods - are they bent? Low compression? compression gauge required. if it is not up top pull oil pan off, look at connecting rods - bent?, check for engine parts, pieces of rings in pan.

Sorry not a better help. But I am not looking at it.

Yes, the new pump was installed in an attempt to fix this problem. The problem existed before the switch. I don't think there was a significant change either way because of the new pump.

Man I hate to hear that as I know it was a big expense on now what you know was a bad diagnosis. I think Tony is right, you may have something else going on. I have not heard of any bad injectors here on the Kioti forum, although I guess it's a possibility...how many hours on your machine? Is there any way to get it into a shop that can do a proper diagnosis?

It was a big expense, especially since the pump was probably fine. I justify it in my head by thinking it was preventative maintenance, ha ha. The pump cost exactly the same as the Ruger No. 1 rifle I would have preferred to have bought.

The machine has 350 hours on it. I have been pretty good about having all service done as recommended by the manual.

So I am now pretty worried about my tractor but have figured some new things out. I took off my exhaust manifold and started the tractor and it was clear that only one cylinder is misfiring and emitting smoke. The more I turn up the throttle the more smoke it makes. It only makes the rapping noise when the engine is under a load.

350 hours should just have the engine broke in. I agree that you need more diagnosing but if you know you have one cylinder that isn't firing, could that be the cause of the rapping noise? One cylinder just along for the ride and making noise like when you start the engine on a really cold day without enough glow time and one cylinder raps a bit until it fires. I'd focus on that cylinder with a compression check first. If good, then you may be right about the injector. It would be hard to believe you lost a rod bearing or bent a rod.

Ouch Michael, now I feel really bad. I just posted this over on RimfireCentral when a guy asked about a No. 1.....

"I always had a hankering for one in .223. A couple of years ago I went out to SD with a bud to hunt PD's. On the long drive out of course we talked about "guns" and probably for the tenth time I told him "someday I will have a #1 in .223" We stopped at a gun shop in Rapid City & were gawking at the sheer number of firearms. My bud walked up and handed me a #1V in .223 that he found on the used rack. Money was/is tight but I never put it back down, just carried it around for 45min while sweating profusely. Someone had done a terrific trigger job on it at just under 2 lb...clean, zero creep. I had nada poker face, negotiations were tough, but they took mercy on me and knocked off a few bucks and threw in a box of Black Hills ammo.
I'm still working up a load for it and right now I can shoot 1" groups at 100yds. My goal is to stretch that out to 300 yds. But the thing is just a pleasure to shoot and still looks to me like a piece of art every time I pick it up. It's one of those I will never sell or trade."
