CK2510 leaking hydraulic fluid out front seal on HST pump

Wondering if anyone has had a seal leak on their HST. Seems that they do not make a seal kit for these. You can purchase a new seal (if you can find it) but the dealer is highly recommending replacing the entire pump and indicated they will not work on it. Of course the pump assembly is $4K. So now I have a dilemma, do I try to find the seal and replace it or do I put the tractor back together and just keep adding fluid as needed. I talked to a hydraulic pump service company near me and they indicated that to replace the seal they would recommend cracking the unit open. Well that is a non-starter given the lack of parts and information on the pump itself.

The tractor is only 4 years old. Any suggestions?

Michigan Iron's parts finder seems to have a lot of parts available for that pump.

I don't know how the pump is built but if you can see the seal it should have a number on it. That number is standardized across several brands. If you order that number you should get the correct seal. Pulling it out and putting in a new one may be a piece of cake or it may not even be an option without pump disassembly. I believe I'd double check the quoted price and see what all it includes. The pump should go for $400 to $600 new, at a guess. See if your local hydraulic shop can find a substitute. Generally the same pump is used on multiple machines.

Thanks for the feedback. I was able to locate the seal at Michigan Iron. I talked to the guys at my local hydraulic shop. They indicated the pump would need to be split to replace the seal. The pump doesn't have any identifying names or manufacturer info on it. It may have something internally. Very disappointed in Kyoto about this. The tractor has been a good working machine for me. Hard to believe that little pump is 25% the cost of the tractor.
