OK, I know this isn't the first person comparing these two power levels of the CK frame. I'm deciding between these two, open ROPS though I might add the field cab later.

Uses:
-frequent snow removal, unsure if PTO blower or front blade
-frequent field mowing with a flail or brush hog, size 5' or 6'
-occasional rototilling
-various loader work
-want to move 4x5 round bales

I think the 2610 would have enough power for most of my uses, but its KL2610 loader is rated for only 1250lbs at the pivot pins, which is probably marginal or inadequate for round bales. The KL4010 loader that goes with the CK3510 is rated for over 1800lbs, which should be fully adequate. I can't figure out why the KL4010 loader isn't available to install on the CK2610, because they have the exact same frame and hydraulic pump rating.

If it weren't for the loader, I would probably choose the CK2610 due to the simpler emissions equipment (no particulate filter) and lower cost.

Questions:
-is it possible to install the KL4010 loader on the CK2610H HST tractor? If not, why not?
-has anyone tried using a CK2610 with the KL2610 (standard) loader to move round bales or anything similarly heavy? How did it go?
-for my other uses, do I really need the extra power of the CK3510 anyway?

FYI, I have about 8 years of prior tractor experience with a Kioti DK40SE HST and a Deere 5105. I moved 4x5 round bales with both of them with no issues at all, and did the same range of tasks except for rototilling.

I don't think I'd feel safe moving rounds with the 2610. I doubt you will be happy with the performance with the smaller machine based upon your experience with the DK40 and the big Deere. Why not try to find a nice used DK40?

Thanks. At least I got one response! We changed our planned uses a bit and are now looking at the larger frame size in addition to the CK3510.

If you have an LS dealer near you check their 35-50 HP models. For a cab model look at either the XR 3000/3100 series or 4000/4100 series tractors. The 3000/4000 series would be leftovers with the Shibaura engine. 3100/4100 series are the latest with an LS engine.

The whole CK10 series weight practically the same, despite the loader lift difference of almost 600lbs.

Round bail weight can vary significantly as far as I know. I'm no farmer, but I dont feel the CK series is the right tractor for those.

Also, you can run a light duty 5' brush cutter, but not a 6'. You need more HP for 6' and almost anything beyond a standard duty 4-5'.

Don't worry at all about the smaller tractors snow throwing abilities. I started witih a CK20 and a rear blower. The tractor throw snow just fine. The rear blower gets old. By all mean select the front blower if youi possibliy can. I hung an old golf cart canvas enclosure around a frame for the winter's snow removal. If you get the cab for snow throwing you're are going to love it. I now have a CK2510 with a front blower and factory cab with heater and a radio. Life is good and I actually like to go out and blow snow just as long as I have a hot cup of coffee aboard.

I'm from the U.P. also

Thanks all. I'm now focused on the DK and NX series of tractors, because the dealer and some here are telling me that the CK line is just not large enough to safely handle round bales, and after re-examining our uses, handling round bales is something we want to do. I think a CK3510 would have worked for all my other tasks.

I think you're making the right choice there.

When Dad & I were shopping I wanted to step up to a DK40 but we took a vote and I lost (it was his money so he got to vote twice LOL)

Moving round bales wasn't really on our radar because we got out of the cattle business. Since then some of our family is now putting cattle on our land and we are attempting to move round bales.

4X4's and 4X5's we can handle with the pallet forks as long as they're good and dry. 5 & 6 foot wide rolls of any diameter are pretty much out.

Luckily we're only moving about one roll a week and we're just transporting off the truck to the feed area. No real loading / unloading / stacking so we get by.

If you're looking to do any real work with round bales you''re going to be happier with a bigger / heavier tractor.

You chose right...the ck3510 would be a little light for round bales:thumbsup:

Just an update: I have ordered a DK5010HS. I decided that the larger frame size and FEL was needed for moving round bales, and with the current promotion it actually cost about the same as a CK3510HST.
