Hi,

100% new to buying tractors, i have been looking at the 2610 and have received 3 quotes from 3 dealers in Oregon and Washington.

my question is....can prices be some what negotiated??

all 3 quotes are very close to each .

2610...TLB...link pedal....4 port hydraulics....24,500.00 to 24,350.00

thanks for any and all advice....

Absolutely... Shop on Tractorhouse to see what the price is around the country.

Everything can be negotiated, My dealer started near sticker price knowing that most people will work him down. Of course my tractor dealership also has a division that sells cars and trucks from the same site.

You can make more headway getting them to throw things in. Services, accessories and even mark downs on implements. They will move more that way than on MSRP.

I agree with cphilip, the margins on tractors are quite small, there are higher profits on implements/attachments, parts & Servicing. Not to say there isn't any wiggle room, but don't expect to save thousands especially at the price point of a CK2610.

I got a good deal on my machine, because it was a left over shuttle shift/Manual. They're harder to sell as most people prefer the Hydro Stat option. the dealer offered me a significant discount on my machine, over and above the manufacturer's existing incentives. Now they can be assured of repeat business from me.

I'm in the Midwest and got extremely similar offers on that setup. I'd say that's a fair price and to pick your favorite dealer. See if they'll throw in a floor mat or service manual to win the business.

.... that an the 2610 is like the hottest CUT model they have so they are likely not to move a lot of these. My dealer is selling them before he can get them. But Ive always had good luck working in extras on things like this. Goes for Mowers, UTV's and ATVs too. You can save a few thousand in those extras working them into the deal. And score a few filters and some oil... and even a hat!

You can't compare buying a tractor to an automobile. Most auto manufacturers / dealers have a "holdback" amount that guarantees the dealer will make between 1.5% and 3% additional profit on the automobile. American car manufacturers have a 3% holdback on the MSRP (sticker price) of the vehicle. If you could buy the car at the dealer invoice price, the dealer would still make 3% on the sale that will be paid back to the dealer at the end of the quarter.

The actual invoice price would be difficult to know because there are flooring costs involved based on how long the auto was in inventory before the sale and that is sometimes reduced by flooring assistance from the manufacturer, dealer incentives, wholesale reserve, wholesale credits, etc.

The idea is that the dealer has a built-in profit based on the holdback. That may not be how the manufacturer / dealer relationship works for tractor dealers so you can't equate buying an automobile to buying a tractor and expecting the same type of price negotiating leeway.

If you get multiple prices that are close. Few hundred or so then have you considered the rapport you established with the sales man?
I'm a new owner as well.
After reading for weeks on this forum I bought mine from a dealer 90 minutes away. However, any concerns I had quickly vanished once the conversation began. The rapport was very positive and he listened to my need and learned about the terrain and future work I had in mind.

With that in mind he gave me every break on promos, and discounts on purchase of two implements and the remotes and welded me up two hooks on the bucket.
My take away is this, listen to your gut and consider how you envision have a long term business relationship with that dealer. That to me has been more important then saving even a few hundred dollars.

Don't know if this answered you question directly but hopes it helps in that finding peace of mind that when you pull the trigger you will drive away knowing you got a good thing going.
Nothing worse then buying a product based on a few bucks saved and have that gnawing feeling that you hope you never have to deal with that guy again for service. Don't ask how I know...heh...heh...:D

I priced my tractor in the spring.

Too much money.

Got a call in August from the dealer with a new offer for thousands less.

Checked some internet pricing, and got more quotes.

Nobody could beat my local dealer’s new quote, so I bought a tractor.
