CK27 glow plug dashboard light?

Hello, I have a 2013 CK27, bought new, now with about 250 hours on it. Just this week, on cold start up the glow plug indicator does not light up at all. The tractor does start with a few extra cranks than usual, but I'm afraid that it won't start once the cold weather sets in. Any ideas? Glow plug relay or the glow plug itself perhaps? Thanks in advance for any direction you can give to this diesel rookie.

The glow plug is temperature sensitive. It doesn't activate in hot weather.

I don't know the actual cutoff point... but when in the 90s as it is here now (same last year) the glow plug light does not come on. It will again in cooler weather.

(edit to add: it doesn't come on when the engine is run enough to be warmed up, either. That is the thing, it just thinks the engine is sufficiently warmed up in hot weather.) :thumbsup:

I was reading the workshop manual (for something unrelated) and found the reference.

Page 11-7 says the cutoff temp for glow plug activation is thirty degrees C. Which is 86 Fahrenheit. It's based on coolant temp.

What I didn't know at all is that there is a 'G' position between ON and START that will manually cycle the glow plugs! The dash light will not come on while doing this, but if your CKxx is hard to start or the little bit of black smoke is too annoying, it would be worth a try! :thumbsup:
