ck30 ignition switch & FI pump solutions

I just wanted to let everyone know that I found some cheap solutions to a couple of problems I was having on my ck30. First the ignition switch. It was having an obvious problem making contact in the right places so rather than replace it I just took it apart and cleaned up the corrosion and it's now good as new. It's pretty intuitive so if you just pay attention to how it comes apart you shouldn't have any trouble getting it all back together. Next, my injector pump went out on me. Yes it was the same issue a lot of folks were having with the cheap alloy thing-a-ma-jig breaking inside. I took it off and sent it to Conestoga Diesel Injection in Willow Street, PA. I got it back in a couple weeks with the more robust parts that shouldn't break and it runs perfectly. The whole staff is great, but Mel is the guy you want to talk to. Total cost...about $280 plus shipping. I don't know how much contact information I can give here so you'll have to google them. I hope this helps someone.

Good to know that Conestoga Diesel could do the repair. They were mentioned before and I think helped several other members. Being that Kioti isn't doing anything for those who have these problems unless still under warranty, there is a good place for the repair and parts.

seems i remember reading that the 2007 was the last year that the pump had failures. Glad that its not a newer one !

From what I've seen, this IP gear failure occurs in 2005-2007 (and possibly some 2008) models. It does not occur in earlier versions where the stop solenoid is mounted externally on the right side of the engine to operate the manual stop lever. Different models switched from the side solenoid to the front solenoid at different times, sometimes in the middle of a build year so it's hard to generalize the exact build years effected.

It is disappointing that the only solution offered by Kioti USA is a new IP at $800-1500, just for the part. It is also disappointing that some of the new replacement IPs also failed in the same manner.

But on the positive side: (1) this is an easy problem to diagnose (remove the oil-fill plate and see if the IP rack is jammed), (2) an average DIY-oriented owner can remove and replace the IP, and (3) we now know of several Diesel repair shops that will fix these IPs better than new for a few hundred dollars.

Could it be that this defect is going to be a rolling wave and begin to affect more 2008-current year models as they pile up more hours?
Thanks Ritcheyvs for your work on this. There are no official stats from Kioti and the problem is under reported here. Your spreadsheet is the only way for us to understand how widespread a problem this is. Nice work! And keep reporting those pump failures folks.
