Just curious as to what pressures ppl are running in their r4s. For some reason my manual states the fronts should have 60psi and the rears 41psi. That 60 seems high and its higher than sidewall rating for the fronts? Any input appreciated.

The book for my DK45s says R4s get 20 psi for all four tires. I have seen higher psi numbers for other models. I would not advise exceeding the sidewall rating.

Does your manual use psi or some other measurement?

Was it a mistake on their part converting a metric measurement to PSI?

The manual says the MAX recommended pressure. I would adjust for your application. If your are doing heavy lifting on your front loader, it needs to be at max. For yard work and a smaller tire footprint, use less. Don't lower it to where you have a slow leak because the it's pressure is too low to maintain a seal.

I normally run 25psi up front and about 18psi in the loaded rear. If I’m going to do some heavy loader work I will run the fronts at 35psi. If I put the backhoe on I will run the rears at 30psi. Basically run the proper psi for the task at hand.
I think it’s best to use the sidewall ratings on the tire and not the manual.

R4 tires will always be a stiff riding tough sidewall tire...it is what they are. If you run the pressure too low, you risk deflation when the tire's bead unseats. The smaller fronts will always be a higher pressure, especially with the loader installed.

My CT235 (CK35) shop manual recommends for R4's 30psi rear and 35psi front. I do find if I've a heavy load in the loader steering gets significantly spongy and may take a page from a newer unit and inflate the steers closer to 40.

thanks for the replys. I put 35 in the fronts and 30 in the rears.
