Kioti CK3520SE
Hi Everyone, just joined this forum and looking for a little guidance.

My new (12 hour use) CK3520SE HST, had the range select level disconnect when I tried to put it back into neutral. I took of the housing an managed to get it back in and drive back to the barn.
At the barn I was poking around and I found the nut. Threaded it on a little but it seemed to be either cross threaded, or a little stuck so I only thread a little to not lose it.

Does anyone know if the but should be tight against the linkage? Or a little looser to allow for play? I've attached some pics. I've tried to find the service manual, but the older ones I've found don't seem to be the same as what I've got here.

Thanks!

IMHO it should be tight (Does not require gorilla tight) any play or rotation is handled by the ball in the heim joint.

I've only messed with the pto lever (rear to mid selection) but it uses the same setup.
That nut should be tight. The linkage (ball joint) accounts for any movement (play) needed to operate the lever.

Likely it was never tightened to begin with or worked its way loose and that is why it looks so beat up.

The nut on the shaft below the joint is to lock down the adjustment. In order to adjust the length of the rod, you would need to remove the nut you are questioning, back off the nut below the joint and then spin the silver and black thing (joint) to the required length. Then reverse the process.

I mention this because you might need a new joint and will have to follow those procedures to remove and replace.

If it was me, I would run a die across those threads, then see if I could get it snug up tight. I wouldn't worry about stripping the threads, if it can't hold then it will need to be replaced anyway. After that you may want to check the adjustment as it could have been slightly off and contributed to your issue.

Hope that is of some help.

Kioti Sal is correct .........BUT with 12 hours on the clock I would hand it over to the dealer as a warranty issue and make them pickup the costs of pickup & return as someone did NOT do their pre-delivery inspection.

Any tech worth anything should have felt the slop in the drive connection when doing the pre-delivery inspection.

If you choose to do the work and do not get the adjustment correct, you may have problems down the road. I would make Kioti responsible for both the problem now and potentially in future.

Based on the ball joint and the forces on that linkage and nut.....to me it screams for some locktite.

I am going to go out and check my linkage right now and make sure it is tight and will put some penetrating thread locker on it.

Thanks for the pics,

Thanks everyone for the information. Really helpful.

I figured it was an easy fix in of itself, but didn't really consider the ramifications further than the connection/nut, like Coyote_ mentioned.

I'll reach out to the dealer, and see what they about pickup/drop off if I want them fix it (it's an hour each way), or if I can get some assurances of it there's issues around this or linked parts, that they'll fix it - do a full service @ 50 hours. I've had a couple issues already with this tractor, nothing major - but both front tires came of the wheel within the first hour of using it (they deflated but have since been fixed) and now this. So it seems like a pre-delivery inspection either wasn't done, or wasn't done property.

Thanks again for all your guys' help.
