CK4010 2017 50 Hr service, heavy fine metallics in hydraulic filter

Note to self... Pick up rare earth magnets at HF next time I go.

I usually stick a magnet on the oil filter of my vehicles, especially when new, to deal with this kind of thing. Have ~13-15 hrs on our CK now and haven't done this yet.

No magnets on either filter.

That's a shame. The Kubota HHTA0-37710 low pressure filter has a circular magnet stuck in the recess near the gasket. If you buy a Napa/Wix crossover it doesn't have one and the magnet from a Kubota filter doesn't fit the recess.

The magnet for my DK 35 is on the pipe the filter threads onto, not the filter itself.

So I had the same machine. A 2016 CK4010HST.
At 50 hours had a lot of fines. Like silver paint pouring out of HST filter.

Changed fluid also at the 50 hour also.
At 200 hours replaced HST filter again and same thing lots of fines.
Dealer told me that's normal.

My reco like others is to use black stone labs and get an oil sample.
The magnet has been brought up and HF sells a four pack for about 2 bucks.

Getting ready to install one on oil filter on the new super duty 6.2l for that same reason.

Good luck being OCD has it's draw backs. It may be normal but folks like me (really OCD) it really bothers me.:laughing:
