Mom seems to want a backhoe. Uses would include rock and stump removal.

Are you happy with yours? Do you have a 757 or 758?

Is it worth the $6-7K?

That may be true that bradco is a real hoe. But this attachment has not been approved for installation by the New Holland engineering department on there tractors. So if anything happens to the tractor caused by the hoe you have to hope that bradco will cover any repairs needed or you will be left holding the bill. This is a little known problem that most New Holland dealers will not talk to there customers about. Only New Holland attachments are approved for New Holland tractors by the engineering department. I have seen this happen time and time again, and New Holland always leaves the customer swining in the breeze if its not a New Holland approved attachment. If you read your warranty you will find it listed right in the warranty that only approved attachment are covered.

I have a 758C on a TC40D. I use mine commercially for my side business and it is large enough to work small jobs i.e., electrical lines, footings for decks in rocky soils, transplanting large shrubs, removing stumps (12" or smaller) etc. It is very handy around the yard also but at 7,000 you are paying a premium for a convienience. Sometimes renting a small rubber track excavator for a weekend does the job for most homeowners or hiring someone like myself (make sure they are insured!). If you do decide on a backhoe I would recommend a subframe mount, a backhoe will put quite a bit of stress on a compact tractor. Also, if you use a belly mower the subframe mounts interfere with the belly mower mounts - they are not compatible with each other. The backhoe will do what it was intended to do very well but don't think for a minute that you will be able to stump acres of land for clearing or dig large foundations. I guess what I am getting at is that it's nice to have but if your not making money with it, it tends to be an expensive attachment. Hope this helps.

That's one of my big fears in using a Bradco 611 on my TN. The strange thing is that New Holland sells Bradco backhoes on their skid-steers:

New Holland Heavy-Duty Backhoes

When I talk to the guys at Bradco, they indicate that they work closely with NH when developing sub-frame systems for the larger NH tractors (like the TN series), so you'd think that NH engineering would see fit to OK them.

I just hope I never need to go down the road of sorting out who's responsible for what if something bad happens. With the subframe on the system I have now, I doubt there could ever be any backhoe-related tractor failures, but strange things can happen...

I have a New Holland 757-C on a TC-35D. Works great ! It's mainly used for digging up stumps, trenches for drain pipes and electrical wire. Couldn't live without it.

I have a 757C on a TC-40D and I am pleased. I wouldn't expect to dig a pond or foundations with it but its good for the stumps and it's swell in the trenches. It's up to you what you get but I personally think the sub-frame mounted backhoes are a stronger package compared to the 3-point models that are offered IMHO.

I have a Bradco 509 Backhoe on the DX45 = TC45DA. I have put approximatly 100hrs on the hoe. The 509 is comprable to a JD 110's hoe in power. The attachment is awsome no crawling under the machine. No loss of ground clearence. Better angle of depature. 3pt hitch stays on machine when hoe is attached. The 509 fits TC 35, 40, 45 DA models.

I don't ever remember crawling under my TC-40D to connect my 757C backhoe, maybe I missed that in the instruction manual. There is a pin on each side of the tractor near the front that gets put in place and the two hydraulic lines are attached.

I use my creeper dolly for oil changes and lube jobs only. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Maybe the attachment to Case tractors is different than with New Holland.

Thanks for the feedback guys. 'Rents are still undecided on the backhoe. 7,000 clams buys a lot of other attachments...

Going to go test drive next weekend. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
