Cleaning debris from woods

Burning has a couple of issues. In Michigan....at least my area, you need a burn permit. And it is dry now. If the fire gets away from you, the DNR will be there and expect a fine. If the local fire department shows up, there is a good chance they will charge you for their work as well

My neighbor just had a sizeble hunting camp he needed to get rid of. Called in an excavator to dig a hole and they buried it. They built a bit of a mound up to address any future settling. Depending on your soil and amount of junk, you may be able to use your FEL but the excavator will get deeper quicker and no chance of damaging your tires.

How much would it cost to hire or rent an excavator? I'd use the cash to buy a 3 point backhoe, maybe a used one. but then he'd have the thing for future use. The tires is a legitimate concern. I've gotten flat tires cleaning up construction debris with the hoe after a nasty landslide, just kept tire plugs and a compressor around. Those were nails, the rest of the dangers were easy enough to see. I guess I was lucky.

I guess i'm addicted to having a hoe around, if one has all this machinery it's nice to be able to dig big holes as needed. ponds, ditches, bury debris, dead cows, revenooers, building inspectors, (ha ha, just joking on the last two)
