Does anyone know what solvent to use to clean the fuel screen that's located at the fuel opening on the tank?

I've tried mineral spirits, brake pad cleaner and acetone. Acetone appears to be dissolving the waxy residue but I'm a little concerned about it's effects on the screen.

Warm kerosene should work. Kerosene is used in propane dewaxing to hot wash the rotary pressure filters when the clothes get a little plugged with wax.

Just be careful in heating the kero. I'd probably just heat some by putting a container of it into some very hot water.

If you can find toluene, it'll work well, too. MEK may as well, particularly at normal temperature. MEK is a paint solvent.
