I found a product that works incredibly well for cleaning up these plastic hooded beauties. It's from Zep, and it's outdoor plastic furniture cleaner. Hose the tractor down, Spray the Zep on, give it a quick wipe with a towel or something soft, and rinse. Thats it! It cut through excess grease, and all the other grime that had built up on my tractor. It was the 1st bath in 70 hours, and I've been moving a lot of fill and process, so you can imagine how dirty it was. It made the wheels and tires look like new as well. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cool! Where can you find the stuff?

Btw, where are the pics of the bathing beauty? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

LOL - The bathing beauty is all dusted up again. I've been moving 3/4" gravel - 40+ tons so far - it gets dusty - as does my nose! Pictures you say - here you go - I ran out and snapped a couple pics. What you see is after two nights work. As always I'm amazed how fast work is with these things. I've been spreading 2 truckloads of gravel. What an improvement - this spring i had a big mudhole in front of the garage (pond when it rained). I dug it down, covered it with heavy fabric, dug a drainage system, and filled the ditch with rip-rap stone. Now the 3/4" is going down and it is starting to look like a driveway.

OK, I'm off topic on my own thread. You can get the Zep cleaner at Home Depot. I used to detail cars for a living (years ago) and I found the Zep cleaners to be outstanding products, this one is no different.

Lookin good! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Ponding has been an issue this year. It has been VERY wet. There are spots in the yard that have had standing water a lot longer than normal. And it wouldn't go away. The grass absolutely had to be cut, so... welll... you get the idea. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Also, with how wet the ground has been, it was wet enough to reveal something I never would have guessed I would find. I was walking in the back near the house and felt something under my foot. Good thing I had my old shoes on where I literally feel just about every stone! lol /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Anywho, I look down and barely make out something metal. I grab a pair of vice grips and try and yank out whatever it is. It ain't budgin. So, I grab the shovel and knock it around a little. Try yanking again. After quite a hard tug, it came out. It was half of a very old steel fence post! I am glad that I was lucky enough to find it before the lawn mower did! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Ok, back on topic. lol Is there a version of that Zep stuff that will work on metal? I really need to clean up the Cub. It is rather irritating looking at a nice white/yellow lawn tractor with green specs all over. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Also, I'm not sure what it is, but there are also numerous other spots on it that are not coming off if I try to scrape it with my fingernail. I don't want to use anything else, otherwise there may not be any paint left! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif And one last thing, will it remove an ugly green streak on the front? I'm not sure how or when something green brushed along the front to leave a green mark across the whole stinkin front! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Asking Deere guys how to get green off a tractor seems pointless....

lol I guess it would. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I wondered who'd be the first to respond to that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Have you tried any of the "bug off" type cleaners? They often have ingredients that will soften harder types of debris. Well contrary to popular opinion the Deere's do have metal as well and I found the Zep stuff worked as well on them.

Looks like a rainy weekend coming up - we'll see how well all my work has done.

"Greased Lightining" I have found to be a really great cleaner. Try finding it at auto stores like Pep Boys, Advance Auto etc...
Full strength is fantastic for the tough stuff. It also has suggested dilution rates listed for different applications which work good too.
This stuff is very strong, but also ery mild at the same time. The first time I used it I sprayed down my dried grass encrusted weed trimmer. I let it sit for a few minutes, then to be sure did a very LIGHT scrubbing/rubbing. Hosed it off and it was amazing clean. I have also cleaned/degreased engines, and garage floors with great results.
I comes in spray bottles, and gallon size too. The next time I run out, I'm buying it by the gallon.
