Yes,
Try this.
Type the number of degrees you want like 15.
Then hold down the "Alt" key and press 2 4 8 then release the "Alt" key. The degree symbol should pop up behind the number.
This is what you should see: 15°
Hope that helps.

Ain't you the "King of Shortcuts"!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif First circumference now degrees! ... Scozz

Must be a list of those 'codes' as
half can be alt_171 ½
quarter can be alt_172 ¼
3/4th can be alt_0190 ¾
plus/minus alt_241 ±
cents alt_155 ¢
degree alt_248 °
Any source for these codes?
Probably right under my nose and don't see it. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Rob's done the diameter symbol a few times too, I noticed. Autocad has its own set of codes %%d for diameter.

scozz and beenthere,

Yes there is a list of those codes and NO, I am not the KING of shortcuts. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif These few were shown to me because I am an engineer/designer/mold maker. When we started using computers to type quotations and correspondence using Word and email, I needed the symbols. My secretary initially found them for me.

The list is in your computer and I found they are different as to which symbols each computer model contains. Now where is that? I think it's in...no...well...
OK, I don't know exactly, I'll have to look it up and post it for for you later...

OK, here it is.
Open Word Document.
Click on "Insert" on the top tool bar.
A new window appears and click on "Symbol". The chart of symbols in your computer pops up. You can then make short cut keys for them or just click on them to appear.
Now, I'm sure that list can be accessed independantly of going into word and you could have it on your tool bar or quick launch bar, but I'll need to ask my wife how to do that.

Thanks for the compliments, you guys made me feel "smart" for a change. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you are using Windows XP AND it was installed (default) then:

Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Character Map

Defective,
I'm not a computer whiz by any means so I appreciate the help. I created a shortcut and dragged it to the quick launch bar.
Thanks,

Highbeam,
I also have AutoCad but don't use it much. I use CadKey which is what I learned on. In that program the same Alt keys works when doing notes and such on my drawings.

Well I've heard the expression most of my life; "Jack of all trades, master of none."
That definitely does not apply to the collective TBN. I have been using Wordperfect to create special symbols (charcters) but when I copied and pasted into a TBN reply the ° did not paste.
Now thanks to this knowledgeable assemblage /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I have gained another saved file.
Now if I can remember what I named it, /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifit will come in handy in the future.

Thank you !
