Clogged transmission screen with bore scope pictures. How to clean???

So my original problem was aeration in my hydraulic fluid after 15 minutes of tractor operation. I discussed this with the service writer at JD and he mentioned that a dirty charge pipe screen could cause my problem. I'm hoping I have corrected the situation.

Any idea what that material is you got out of it? Looks a lot like a friction material........... glad you were able to get the screen cleaned at least. Just curious where that material came from.

Yeah, there is some friction material to it. If I take a pinch of that and rub my fingers together it goes down to fine grit (clutch material). I think this machine sat for a good while and maybe accumulated a little water and allowed some algae to grown. When the machine was cranked that algae was sucked into screen and over some time formed a bond with the clutch material blocking the screen.

I worked on this today and have the machine almost put back together. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish it up and test it out! Thanks for the great suggestions and support.

What were your symptoms? I have a 310k that started showing weak hydraulics. Outriggers slow and don't fully lift tractor. Hoe seems to move slower than I am used too. I'm about to start looking into causes but I would love it to be something simple ( new filters). Thks

My symptom was aeration of the transmission fluid. Sounds like your problem is main hydraulic system which is separate from the trans. The filter would be a good place to start. A pump pressure test might also be helpful.

Just to follow up on this. I got the tractor put back together and everything works as it should. Previous fluid aeration problem is gone and MFWD/2WD switch is now working properly. Nice healthy system pressure too at 250 psi.
