I haven't done a search... but for as often as I've visited this forum - I haven't read much at all about AIR SEATS!

I've asked a couple of sales people to briefly explain how they work, how reliable are they, and why they should cost so much more than the mechanical seat?

They didn't know a whole lot about 'em! Certainly not enough to convince me that they were a "must have" option, anyways.

For those of you that have 'em -- whadya think of 'em? Are they worth the money? Just something more complicated that ends up gunnysack down the road?

Thanks in advance.

A day or two after I ordered my 4520 I changed it and added the air seat. I am so glad I did. Can't speak as to long term reliability as far as the air bladder goes though.

I'd try to go to a dealer and ride on air and non-air on rough-ish ground. Betcha you end up getting it...

I have one. They are OK. I think it was a 600 dollar option not sure on that. Don"t think its worth that. I wanted a little more leg room so I turned mine around on its mount and it is much better for leg room.

Shouldn't the title read, "Close to your butt..."?

Ask any full time farmer or over the road trucker if they'd give theirs up. There are million mile trucks and 10k hour tractors that have had no issues with failure. They are the berries. Granted in these compacts, they will most likely not see 16+ hour days, but if they even come close to the ride quality in the above mentioned, you will thank yourself for the upgrade every hour you do use it.

I'd get it. i wanted to put one in my tractor, but couldn't justify the $1000.00 after the fact. bought my tractor used.

If you can order it from the factory then you will get the best price. I looked into one for my 7710-II and may get one if I ever get that tractor back but I had to go aftermarket and one that was going to fit that tractor was going to cost over $1k.

Even at $600 on a compact for most owners they don't use their tractors enough generally to even notice the ride. A lot of the guys on here are lucky if they put 50 hours on their tractors in a year and $600 would buy or make a good size payment on another implement.

I am all for them though and if you have back issues a good seat is priceless. Couple the air seat with radial tires and you have a surprisingly comfortable field tractor.

You can get cheaper ones for large tractors, doubt there are many for compacts. Whats great about larger ones is they have up down movement and side to side, front to back suspension. Really helps on a long day of field work.

I really notice using the small spring suspension seat in my Kubota vs the good Grammer seat in my big Massey, that thing is darned close to an air seat.

I don't have airseats on any of my tractors but have used them and they do ride better for sure. I have two issues with them though, sems to be too much movement and makes my feet bounce around on the pedals, and second I like to feel how much the tractor is shaking as this can be hard on the TPH. Lets me know I need to slow down.

What would be nice is having "Ride Control" one of my buddies has this on his new full size backhoe, definately makes transport speeds more comfortable.
