I have little to no experience with closed center hydraulic systems, and am now dealing with one. I have to add a loader valve to a Massey Fergusen 1135 tractor, and was wondering if I could add an open center loader valve powered from the rear remote valve, if I run a return line from the open center to the reservoir. The rear remotes have a detent so flow could be shut off to the open center valve when not in use. It seems to me that this would work, but some experienced knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Yes this would work. The problem I can see is you may over heat the hydraulic system depending on the flow rate and reservoir size. Example: A White model 2-85 has a 20 GPM pump and 8 gallon reservoir you could not run this in open center.

option would be to use a closed center loader valve. You may have to tie the rear remote valve in the detent position to keep it from returning to center.

another option would be to tee into the pressure line and use this to supply the closed center loader valve. This would probably be my first choice if possible.

What make of OC valve is it?
There might be a closed center plug available to.it....that would be the best way to go....

Short answer-NO, you need a CC valve.

Yes an open center valve will work fine with the remote valve lever in the detent position provided you get a valve which is designed for the gpm flow you tractor's pump supplies. I have been using a 3 spool valve setup on my Oliver 1655 for my FEL and grapple for over 10 years without a problem.

Did you change your hydraulic system? Tractor data says you are a open system.
