Can someone help me?
I have a Yanmar 2000B that I just changed out the rear tires. When I parked the tractor it ran perfect. After changing the tires the clutch quit working. It will not engage. In other words if you start in neutral you can稚 get it in gear. If you try and start in gear it starts rolling even with the clutch pressed. I didn稚 change or work on anything other than replacing the rear tires.

The clutch is just rusted stuck. Lots of ways to free it. Drive it around with clutch depressed and slam on the brakes once in a while. That's what the little latch is for.

Any time you know it's going to sit for more than a few days you should latch the clutch pedal down.

I always wondered what that latch was for.

Does anyone have a Pic. of the latch would you? the reason I ask is my eng Ser.# is the same as the 2000BD 2TR20A but I do have a -A after it also. On my Trans Ser# 15000 I have nothing that even looks like there is or was a latch. The Eng. may have been replaced or possible may have been be a VN recon at one time? Could be no ROP's and just wondering if I should come up with a way to latch down the clutch pedal before I end up with the same problem if I let it sit ?

Thanks

Carey, my YM240 has the same engine, 2TR20A-X. Here's a photo showing my latch. It is bolted to the transmission case about halfway down, behind the most-forward part of the clutch pedal assembly.

I have never used mine, and never had any trouble. I don't see why these clutches are any different than in say a Nissan which is probably the identical clutch. I expect Yanmar designed that for worst-case, ie running half submerged in the rice paddies then putting the tractor away wet and storing it for months until next season.

ps for anybody interested - the pic shows the loader's bracing to the rear axle which takes some stress off the bellhousing. And the 'old man step' I added. I posted that picture here originally to illustrate that step.

I never would have thought that over the years Yanmar used more than one setup for that latch.
