I have a Massey Ferguson 5445 and the clutch seems to be very sticky after a few hours work.Every time it sticks my shutle forward reverse display on the dash reads a 24 code fault. Can anyone tell me what that means.

What's in your machine for a transmission? Syncro-Shuttle, Power Shuttle or Dyna-4?

How old is your machine? It doesn't have a clutch, just a dampener plate, no normal clutch action. What happens when it faults? Does it stop moving? Is it when you push the clutch in to stop it faults? Does it act up if you don't use the clutch? As much information you can give as possible please.

Its a 2005 model
Whilst engaging the clutch and then slowly releasing it to ease off again, the tractor locks up so that you can't move at all for a few seconds, then seems to release but produces a really large bang kinda noise with a very jerky movement. It means that I can't accurately ease up on to a position. Every time it does this it flashes a code 24 on the reverse symbol on the dash. The problem only seems to occur after operating the tractor for a few hrs but then becomes quite consistent.

Sounds like the bottom of clutch switch is heating up & faulting.

As a temporary fix, you can remove the lower dash cowling to allow air to get to it & keep it cool. There is an updated switch to take heat better.
