i have a yanmar 1500 and i was bushhogging a field today and everytime i pushed my clutch in there is a bad squelling sound. I know its either the clutch or the throw out bearing. I just dont know where to get the parts from. i looked at hoyt tractor but i didnt know what kit i needed. Any body ever split their yanmar? Looks like it should be fun. Jeremy

Sounds like a throwout bearing.
Do you have a double clutch, part way for tranny and all the way for the PTO?

This is just what happened to me. The throwout bearing froze and got the clutch so hot it welded itself together. Lots of squealing and smoke. Look for my post on splitting a yanmar 1500d ???? and Mark777's instructions on how to do it. Just split it last weekend and will install the clutch when I get a chance in the next month or 2. Replacement parts for the green yanmar 1500d (mine was painted red and yes the parts are different) are about $200.00. Good luck.

I would guess throw out bearing as well, but given the difficulty splitting the tractor I would go ahead and replace the clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bushing and have the flywheel resurfaced while I was in there.

May just want call Hoye and they should be able to help figure out what parts are needed. The number is on the graphic at the top of the page.

There is a thread about splitting a 1500D at this link.

Let us know how it goes and if you can take pics and post them.

i guess i will probably order the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing since it will be split anyway. I never had a problem with it untill i was cutting a feild of vines, would the strain on the tractor have anything to do with this. Could anyone recommend a good place to order the parts? I was thinking Hoye. Thanks for the post, Jeremy.

If it is the throw-out bearing, it only comes into play when the clutch is depressed, holding the clutch plates apart.

Loading the tractor with the clutch engaged shouldn't affect the bearing.
However, slipping the clutch while using will cause excessive wear and tear on the clutch, either from not being adjusted or trying to move slowly in a gear that is too high and "riding" the clutch.

well i started ripping apart the tractor today to replace the clutch, t.o. bearing and pressure plate. I was wondering if there is anything i should know or look out for before doing this. I just hope i can get it back together. Jeremy.

I have never done this task before but just thinking about it I would suggest one safety aspect. The front axle pivots so when the tractor is split the front end will want to rotate to one side or the other. Keep that in mind when placing your supports so that it doesn't end up rolling off the supports.

A couple of blocks of wood could be jammed in each side at the pivot point to stop it from rotating.

well i got the tractor split and my clutch doesnt look to bad, but my pressure plate is shot. I have a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing coming tommorow, and i was wondering if anyone here has done this to give me some tips. I did a search and cant really find anything on it. I was told that they do not use a line up tool for the clutch when installing, and i have never really done this before. any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy

What kind of help would you like? You use the lineup tool, (shaft), that is already there.
