Finally got around to buying a trailer for my pond dirt moving project and need to pass on some info. Price with shipping just under $1,000 which included the trailer and factory dump kit, shipping under 7 days (Ohio to SE TX.) First problem, treated/still wet boards were in direct contact with painted parts and moisture/chemical combination caused fresh paint to bubble and there was already some signs of rusting. Assembly instructions for trailer weak but doable. Assembly instructions for dump kit were almost worthless. The biggest problem was no mention of adjusting bottle jack to achieve maximum dump. Two minor parts were missing requiring a trip to town. Time to put whole thing together under two hours. Numerous small cotter pins are used but no washers provided, the critical ones such as wheel retention were. Overall quality OK for price. Now the real problem. Factory dump kit probalbly came close to spec of 40 degree dump. I quickly found out that 40 degrees won't even dump firewood! My plan was to use quick hitch for towing and then lift three point for a better dump angle. No go, bed frame would hit rear tire just past 40 degrees.
So if you want to dump something, witout modification, it isn't worth $1,000 or even $500 IMO.
Good points: good weight capacity (2,500 lbs) for a small trailer, can convert to flat bed in just a few minutes, really big fat tires cause very little rutting in soft ground, tandem axel system works great, can keep ATV hitch and add standard trailer coupler, ATV hitch keeps hitch coupler high enough off ground for hands free coupling and disconnecting with a hitch on three point, can be towed fully loaded with firewood by our golf cart, xero turn mower and tractor.
