CMI C250 Mulcher ?? Anyone have or have used ?

There is a big project comming up and I'm thinking of making the leap to a larger machine to round out the fleet and possibly grow a little more. I'm looking at a CMI C250 Hurricane. Its a 275hp beast with 30" wide steel tracks only 3.2 psi I think. Anyway they are gonna fly me out there to demo it has anyone any experience with them ? I've talked to a very very big operation out west and they praise them to no end, I think they have 40 of them. ????? Anyone

I dont have any experience with the machine, but I have also heard good things about them. I have been looking into their machines, mainley the 125.
The 250 seems to be a good combination of lots of power in a small package and is also lighter than other machines with comparable horsepower which would allow you to haul it on a gooseneck or tag trailer and not a lowboy.

I think CMI has been around for quite awile relative to the mulching industry. I know they have a lot of machines in Western Canada.

Well I'm sitting in the airport in Montreal spent a couple days down here. Went to the CMI factory, visited Denis Cimaf factory saw some sites bla bla. Getting to the point, man does that 250 perform. I have tried the others, some with more power and some with a little less and I have to say it would take about 400hp to out cut this machine. The cab is huge you could have a bench seat in the dang thing. Every aspect of the machine is built for a purpose, you can tell it was made by mulchers for mulchers. Have I got a huge decision to make now. Not knowing allot about the FAE heads I am impressed. The price tag (Retail) is high but worth it. I don't want to speak bad of the other manufactures some have gone out of their way more than I could ever expect for me but I'll say you have to try the machine and the others and make your own decision. The lower lift height is the only (I don't want to say negative) thing that could be better but the machine is a bull. I also had a chance to see a C400 and a C600 plus another one I wasn't supposed to see

. Met everyone involved with the machine and I can say they seem to be a top notch comp. Enough babbling

I watched the video on them. Us mulchers know what to listen for and watch. I was impressed with the torque it was putting out. It took alot to stall it. I'm guessing from the performance and the price West talks of it has a variable motor on the head. Can you talk how many dollars it would take to put one in the stable??

I think they watch these forums I hope they will chime in, I don't want to put numbers out there incase they are wrong but I believe they are watching. Yes varriable displacement pumps. The rotor literally recovers to full speed in seconds, like 1, 2, full speed. I don't know the specifics of the psi and gpm but it is putting out allot. Very well thought out as I said, gauges for head, track drives etc. Has dummy proof built into it, engine cannot be increased to full speed until hyd temp and engine temp is up, Rotor speed can be controled, traction is adjustable from 0-100%. I have yet to try them with the viper tools on it. Tons of stuff I forget. Very well built. The frames are even normalized in a huge oven to lessen the stresses from welding.

I have a CMI 400 for sale and have run the 250 400 & 600. Their cooling and cab pressurizer packages could be better so if your in the south I'd modify like I did if your a Canadian no worries.
