CNH 4020
I am a new member and have a CNH 4020 which is Case New Holland with a New Holland FL.
I don't see any seperate group for CNH.
Is this the appropriate group to post threads to for CNH?
I am installing two auxilary front lights on the canopy since the FL blocks the built in headlights. The total watts of the new lights is 110 watts.
I will fuse this circuit but wonder if the tractor wiring harness has any wiring near the rear of the tractor that will take this extra load.?
There is a multipin trailer plug and a 4 pin implement plug at the rear but there is no wiring diagram or data in the tractor manual.

No help for your problem, but most folks post to the 'New Holland owning/operating' forum. You have a NH 4020.

CNH is the name of the corp parent, though Fiat owned (ok, they made a corporate split this winter/spring, no functional changes as of yet, Fiat is still the ultimate parent). FIAT (Fabrique Ital automobile Turin) bought Ford in the 80's, then Case-IH from Tenneco a few years later. They merged it all with Fiat Agri and renamed it New Holland. Other brands in the mix too.

Case IH is the sister division, and they likely also sell a version of your machine, though it will be in red (think Chevy-GMC: mostly the same, sometimes small differences in model line up or features).

Assuming your trailer socket is a US style 7-pin, you should be able to connect to the "Black" wire which provides an auxillary 12v connection to the socket. If doing this you would of course need to add a switch before the lights.

Alternatively you could splice into the "Brown" tail light wire, assuming of course that it is large enough to carry the load. On larger tractors the tail light circuit normally matches the capacity of the headlight circuit to allow for flood-lights mounted to implements.

Thanks for the reply. I recently did a "timeline" on Google for Ford tractors and got a very interesting history showing all the merges and by-outs to date.
I do see that most folks post to the owning and operating section after spending some time viewing interesting posts in many categories of the forum.
I did work out my wiring questions due to some helpful hints from jinman and by finally ringing out the circuits involved myself. If you look at my post titled,
"Where are the relays" you will see the conversations that resulted.
