Kubota RTV 1100c, JD 740,Kioti DK 40 with KL401 loader .
After talking with member Dargo I installed a coast valve($149.24 shipped)on my RTV 900 to get rid of the sudden jerky stops from the hydrostatic transmission. All I can say is WOW,YEHAA!!This is now a different machine, the jerky stuff is gone and the RTV now slows down gradually and the tranny shifts smoother.I would say if you live in hilly terrain or pull a trailer and need the hydrostatic braking keep what you have now if not put in the coast valve. Thanks again Dargo.coobie

Hey, I'm glad you got in installed and liked it. Whew, I was really going to feel like a fool if you said you didn't like it! As I'd mentioned to you, nobody had suggested it to me and I just tried it on a whim and was absolutely amazed at the difference!! Why Kubota doesn't use this valve from the factory I'll never know. In my mind it gives it a 'just right' gradual slow down and the sudden jerk of a stop is completely gone besides it shifting easier. Thanks for mentioning it. I'm sure there others with RTVs who have never heard of this quick and easy fix. Maybe "fix" isn't the proper word. Maybe I should say quick and easy upgrade. Okay, I gotta know; how long did it take you to install?

It took us(my friend from work also) about 15 min.for the install.I also want to tell you that we started to fiddle with the factory valve and turned the screw on top 2 turns I think clockwise and reinstalled it and it almost felt like the new coast valve. From what I have read on another board if you turn down the factory valve it causes cativation and ruins the hydro pump. Thanks again dargo.coobie

do you think it voids the kubota warranty?

also, why is a machined piece that small so expensive?

Curious, is this the valve advertised on eBay? As mentioned, small machined part, big price. More details would be appreciated.

As mentioned, small machined part, big price.

You are not paying for just a "small machined part" but for the Idea, design, development, testing(hopefully),time to design it in CAD, time to program the CNC machine, the cost to operate the machine, and the base material, and a little profit for all of the above. I am sure this guy is not selling millions of these a year, so that drives up the cost some also.

Just my opinion-probably worth what you paid for it:D

My RTV is out of the warrenty period.I would pay the price again in a heartbeat, this part makes the RTV that much better IMHO and yes is was purchased of Ebay.coobie

I would be interested in some information of this valve.

If you are messing with the servo valve on top,.. and adjusting that screw,.. you are only decreasing the efficiency of the hydro under load.

So, 5 years later....

Did the coast valve adjustments cause any transmission problems? I did some searching and this topic seemed to die out - maybe newer RTVs don't throw you forward when you let off the pedal?

I installed a Coast valve four years ago, then took it out and adjusted the internal valve. 400 hours later it works great and there is no issues. Your dealer can also "tone" done the stopping power of the hydro.
