Hi! My church is taking delivery of a TC30 with a Bushhog and mid mount mower deck.

I am looking for a coating, either spray or brush-on to apply to the underside of the deck to allow easier cleaning and to eliminate the buildup of grass.

Does anyone know of a name or where I can buy something like this?

Thanks

Jeff

There is a thread on this subject called "Undercoating Mower Decks" in the Attachments forum. The last message is dated 6/23.
My take on the thread is that no one has found anything that really helps all that much, but it does list some products you can try. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't waste your money on any coatings. Just hose it off every once in a while.

Back when that thread was current I bought some EZ-Slide from TSC and painted it on with a brush. I put it on heavy, then buffed it out with a rag. Last week I had to clean under the deck because I had to mow some wet grass, and it got moldy and smelled up the barn. After I cleaned it up with the pressure washer I looked it over good. All I can say is that it did help some, but I don't think it was enough to go to all that trouble again. EZ-Slide also comes in spray cans, but some who tried it weren't that impressed with it either. I have a sneaking suspicion that there is no easy way to keep it clean under there. Being almost terminally lazy, I'm still looking for a method that works though. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I agree with Gary don't waste your time or your money.

I agree with the rest of you that coating the deck doesn't seem to be worth the effort.

I've resorted to hoisting the front end of my Craftsman GT mower up with a chain hoist and scraping out the deck before each mowing session.

I REALLY would like to get something like this

Now That would be easy to clean! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I bought a Walker mower and it is very nice to have the flipup deck. I have used a woods and the walker is much less tiring to use.

Ditto to the "don't waste your time" replies- I have tried the E-Z-Slide graphite paint, and while it looks nice, it's worn off after an hour's mowing, more or less. Hosing off is the best preventive maintainance.

Saw a thing on eBay awhile back that was for smaller mower decks. It allowed you to hook up a water hose to the deck and blow the clippings off that way. Maybe someone makes something similar for larger decks?
