We keep getting a 08-22 code. Temp out of range Low. What does it mean? Easy repair or shop repair?

08-22 : Engine Coolant Temp out of range - LOW

1) Is your coolant temperature gauge reading in the normal range? If the gauge is reading low, you may have a thermostat stuck open. If its reading normal, then you may have a bad sensor or faulty wiring to the sensor.

2) Check to see if the thermostat is working (hot coolant coming out of the hose to the radiator)? If the coolant hose coming out of the engine is not as hot as you'd expect, perhaps your thermostat is stuck open. If the hose is very hot, then again, you may have a bad sensor or wiring issue.

Out of range code either High or Low means the control is reading a feedback signal that is far outside normal parameters of operating machine. Too low indicates the feedback signal is minimal or non-existant but controller is sensing a ground signal otherwise it would generate a sensor disconnected signal. Since these machines can start and operate in severely cold temps without giving an Out of Range Low code, it is not likely a stuck thermostat is causing problem in middle of the summer. You either have a faulty sensor or a wiring problem.
