That major failure can also mean the loss of a good motor. Granted it can be extremely difficult to find leaks and you do need to be motivated to find the leak before you tear everything apart.
You can remove anything in your way as long as you dont remove any cooling system parts. Fans, alternator, shrouds etc may all be necessary.
You do need to keep the system pressurized until you locate the leak.

We use to use spray foot powder to find oil seepage when it was hard to see. That would not work in this case because you can't get the can in there. Maybe load up a bendable straw with flour, get it aimed right, and use a blow gun to blow it above your drips. Maybe then you can use a mirror to see the trail? :confused3:

A coolant o'flow tank should be nearly empty when cold and nearly full when hot.

If so there might not be a leak.

If topped up cold the tank will overflow when hot and can leave one wondering where the wet spot came from.

Im guessing a coolant overflow tank when too full will redirect the excess coolant down a hose to the ground. The OP has a coolant leak dripping from the engine's oil pan.

So you've never seen where an overflow hose was missing on a machine that old? I didn't get as good a look at one in the the OP's pics as you must have.

Some people hate 'puke tanks' tanks and remove them. Didn't see that item in the pics either. It's a 2008 model, not 'just pulled the trigger' & shown to be all there with warranty.

Apologies for not knowing the next pow'r Ball winning #s either. :p

Sorry if I offended you. Just a old 30+ year retired master mechanic's point of view.

Not offended at all. We're both guessing at this point. :)

I worked in car factories for 30 yrs flipped cars, built street racers, and wrenched AMF-era H-D bikes.

I'm but a retired Toolmaker, which as related to cars & tractors only means I can measure well and make good parts.
