Sorry if this is a stupid question, but when would you choose the B3030 or L2800? They look similar, but they are in a different series and the B3030 cost around $2500 more. Is there work that the one can do that the other cannot? I'm primarily interested in FEL work clearing up rustic ranch land.
Look at them in person, and if possible, try them out at the dealer. The B3030 is at the very high end of the smaller B series, and the L2800 is at the lower end of the larger L series. Very different tractors. You will need to figure out what tasks you want to accomplish and go from there.
I ran into the same thing several years ago and once I spent some time on them at the dealer, I changed my mind on what to buy. You just can't beat some seat time.
As Ductape has indicated, the B3030 has a lot of features on it that are nice to have. For instance the lower links that hook up to 3 pt hitch equipment extend or telescope to make it easier to hook the equipment up. Both tractors have position control 3 pt systems which maintain an implent on the rear at a set height, but the system on the Lxx00 series tractors is considered jerky in its operation by many of the owners who post on this board. I have not heard that complaint about the B3030's. The B3030 also has the capability of having a mid mount mower or belly mower put on it. The L2800 can only use a mower on the rear.
If you are new to tractors, it will be harder to determine if the extra features on the B3030 would be worth the extra cost. As the others have said, if you go on sit on both, you will at least notice some differences. In the end, both will do pretty much the same thing. It is more a matter of the feel and do you want the extra features of the B3030 enough to pay for it.
