Tractor
'47 DC CASE
i just wanted to thank the folks here for the photos, comparisons, and reviews that you do. next year i hope to be able to purchase one of these tractors that i read about. there are very few off brand dealers around my neck of the woods so i do not get to see or get a feel for them and i had no idea there were so many. this sight has been an eye opener. thank you. as of last fall i have a little 15 acre spread to take care of. tomorrow i am picking up my first tractor that i have ever purchased. a DC Case with an old farmhand loader. i mention this, in part , because i see people on this forum get offended too easily if someone shows this tractor is better than that tractor in some way. well anything in these forums is prob better than my DC setup, but it starts easy-runs good- and the loader goes up and down. i paid $500 for it and am very pleased. tomorrow afternoon when i am pulling posts out of the ground instead of digging them out i will have a grin as big as Texas. i think the "you called my tractor a name" posts just get in the way of what i am trying to get from this site, which, again, would be info for an upcoming purchase and just general info about all the different makes of tractors out there. if one model has more gpm or a more comfortable seat or a more reliable engine, that is good to know, but i also need to know how many gpm do i really need? how comfortable of a seat does my butt need to sit on? how reliable does the engine have to be? if i like it and it suits my needs at the time that is what is important. keep the info coming guys and gals i like reading it. P.S. my DC will kick your John Deere B's behind. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pictures of your tractor are required as soon as you get it home. No excuses.

A tractor that will move under its own power for $500 is a real bargain, and one with a front end loader that works for that price is a steal. If I'd found a deal like that I might never have owned a new Kubota. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Boy its a good thing I don't have a Deere. But if you want to get serious about green tractors then skip JD completely and look up OLIVER, its the correct shade of green /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As for your comments implying hyper sensativity regarding brands, you really hit that on the head. As a NH, Kubota and Cub Cadet owner, I've pointed out problem with each brand, and I've pointed out the quality features too. Now I've never said anything bad about my Ventrac, but that is because it is perfect /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Sad thing, but one of the moderators told me he may be leaving because of the "idiots and trouble makers" that ruin threads. Personally I hope he doesn't leave, but it does reinforce your obvservation that sometimes objectivity is checked at the door before people enter.

My dealer is about 40 miles away from me and I've got to go through Ft. Worth to get there. Not real convenient, but I shouldn't have to go there that often either.
As a long time bulletin board participant, mostly Harley, I'm real used to opinionated threads. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Doesn't bother me, I really like my new tractor and hope everybody else is just as happy with theirs.

KC73 sounds like you got a GREAT deal. One of the best I've heard about. As for someones tractor being bigger, badder, prettier, newer - who cares as long as yours does what you need it to do at a price you can afford. Just sold the first tractor I ever owned - a 1958 AC D17. Wish I still had it, I miss that old tractor. Don't get me wrong the TC30 I have now is fine but that old orange tractor will always be a part of my memories. I know where it is and someday I may try to buy it back. Have fun Terry

pics will take about a week. i'll put a little post up down in the vintage forum. i think a '47 dc qualifies as vintage. ripped some fence out today and did a little cleaning up. worked like a charm. she needs a lot of TLC and the ole f10 loader is rough, but functional all the same.
