Kubota BX2230
I have a Kubota BX2230. Can I use a 7ft. box blade on the 3 Pt. hitch? Or do I have to stick to a 4 ft. blade?

Thanks Ya'll!

Can you? Sure if your moving dry sawdust around:laughing:
But seriously, a 7' box blade on your tractor will not work, its just to big.

If you take much of a bite, that's gonna be too much blade for the tractor. The BX being relatively light, you'll spin the tires before you run out of power.

I have a 5.5 I use behind my B2650 and if I'm taking a good cut it's all she wants for both power and traction.

You would be popping a wheelie , it wouldnt lift a 7 ft box blade

That 7' box blade would be using the BX as a front implement.

I doubt it would lift it, if it would, then you would need a full FEL bucket to keep the front wheels on the ground. You couldn't do much with it though even if you could lift it. A box blade can load up with dirt quickly and that is hard to move. I think you better stick with a 4 foot and even that will tax your tractors power and traction.

Box Blades, like most ground contact implements, rely on implement weight for cutting force.

Your most effective Box Blade will be the heaviest one per unit of width your BX2230 will pull using 4-WD, without spinning your tires. (See archive LINK.)

So shop for a Box Blade in either 48" or 54" width, as heavy as possible.

You will not find a 48" width Box Blade too heavy. You might find a 54" Box Blade so heavy that when loaded draft force will stop the tractor------but you can lift the Box Blade 1" and move forward once again.

Box Blades take longer to master than most new operators expect.

A Hydraulink Top Link helps considerably. Hydraulink also functionally helpful paired with Rear/Angle Blades and Landscape Rakes.

Hydraulink between tractor and most 3-Pt. implements provides shock absorption which I believe aided tractor longevity when I owned a Kubota B3300 SU.

No good with a Moldboard Plow.

When I use a box blade on my 50hp I use a 7' and it can stop that tractor in the right circumstance, the BX won't do well with it.
