gbirky, thanks for the info! I knew the TS worked, but just didn't know how--maybe I should actually
look at my manual! I guess I should be happy I have the self-filling type. Do you know if there is any
recommended maintenance on that?

Could you post a pic of the container? I don't think my 1500 has this either. I have the electrical part but I don't think the unit is plumbed. The only hoses attached to my fuel tank are the main one for the engine feed and a small return line up on top that's a return line from the injectors I believe.

The 1500 does not have the automatic filling reservoir. It has the one you have to refill. I don't have a parts manual for the 1500, but I do have one for my 1110D which as I said has the manual fill reservoir.

The hose you meantioned going from the injectors to the tank is the one I used to go to the automatic refilling reservoir when I replaced the manual one. I have attached a scan of the page from my 1110D manual that shows the TS reservoir. Item 6 is the "manual" reservoir, and item 1 is the TS "plug". This drawing shows that the reservoir mounts directly above the plug and is connected with just a short piece of hose. This is how your 1500 should be.

Thanks Greg. The scan is just what I needed. I'll go compare this to my tractor. I'm almost certain I do not have this. I'll probably put the manual fill system on it as this would be the stock config and I'm trying to keep my 1500D as stock as practical.
