Concrete floor finishing?

Sadly, the Elan was sold recently...had it for 9 years and yes, the drive donuts held up fine. A fun car, but like rather finicky, like any Lotus. I also have a big Healey.

I sealed my floor with a Sherwin Williams Industrial Urethane based product. I was going to use their Industrial Epoxy but I had to get in right away and the relative humity was always to high. Ask the paint company Industrial Tech to visit your site and make the recommendations. They will help you with what type finish to put on your concrete when it is poured as that can help you when you get ready to protect the floor. One of the things that I liked about their products was no need for acid. Use a rotary Sander with 60 - 80 grit and break up the slick finish on the concrete and apply the prime coat and finish coat. Almost forgot, filled the control joints before sealing and trim level with the floor. You want to make sure that the finishes will not "Hot Tire" if you plan to have tires which are hot parking there. That was not important to me or the Urethane would not have worked as well. You can add the anti slip to the finish ... I highly recommend talking to the Paint Industrial Tech Guys. They helped me a lot. I would also look at aircraft hanger floor finishes.

Good tips. I'll see about the rep visiting. But, I kind of doubt they'll make a one sale visit to my remote location. Urethane likely won't work for me. I will have hot tires frequently rolling into the shop to park. The hangar floor idea is a good one.

Additional comments:
The walls and roof are now up. I'll have access for electrical work next week. It's likely I'll be able to seal the floor by mid-August. I'll have to make the product decision by then.

Thank all of you for your replies.

I learned a few things I didn't know about. The best thing your replies did for me was to prepare me with questions to ask when I went shopping--especially about hot tire resistance.

I did not find a smooth surface epoxy that was not slippery. I found several epoxy products, of which, the Rust Oleum garage floor epoxy paint looked the best. But it has a rather rough texture that I thought would be hard to sweep chips up from in the machine shop area.

I've decided to use the following product to seal my floor.
Seal Krete Concrete/Garage floor sealer

This appears to be similar to several products suggested.

Thank you very much!
