2005 Branson 4720, 8620 Backhoe
Hello. New member, first post. Been on here a lot reading for the last year. I have been tractor shopping for some time, had a Ferguson TO-30 about 10 years ago, and Ive got a 78' International TD7-E dozer. Buying 5 acres of land and will be doing everything myself, fence, trees, shop, house, pond, etc.

Anyhow, after all my research I wasn't sure if I wanted an older "fullsize" 2wd diesel for cheap, go small compact tractor and try to get a backhoe, or put a big down payment on something new(or newish) and get what I really want. Found Branson to be a good buy it seemed, and started pricing out a 3520h with a backhoe, got quotes shipped to my place for as low at $26k. Contacted Big Reds Equipment in Texas and the owner called me and said he would beat the price by $2k for a shuttle shift, match it with a 4020R for same price, or sell me a low hour used 2005 4720 with a brand new backhoe for $22k.

Any thoughts on the 2005? Seemed like maybe some people were having tie rod and clutch issues? Anything else to be aware of? Sounds like a decent deal to me, and a much higher HP tractor than I planned on which is great.

Thanks in advance, and I apologize because I am sure half of the posts on here are similar.

How many hours are on the JD? I have a 2006 4720 and love it. It has proven (so far) to be bulletproof. The 4720's are all e-hydro which is great for my uses which are mostly loader based. I don't have a backhoe, so I can't comment on that portion. Looking at your to do list, it sounds like a perfect fit.

Not a JD, it's a 2005 Branson 4720. Hours he is confirming but said its between 300-400, and it's synchro shuttle.

I'd go with the 4720 at 22k. I just got a new 4520R with the BH760 hoe for 31k with some other implements. If Red had quoted me the 4720 you're talking about, I'd have probably bought that instead.
