Considering purchase of a Montana 3940 for maintenance of 40 acres in North Texas - primarily coastal, but lots of trees and brush to clear.

Two questions - closest dealer seems to be rental place with tractor sideline, next closest dealer is primarily lawn equipment with tractor repair. Anyone have experience in this area?

Next - comparing specs with other similar horsepower tractors from some of the big names, this tractor seems to be 400 - 700 pounds lighter than NH or Bota of similar horsepower on Tractordata. Am I looking at something wrong? In the forum I have seen several mentions of greater capacity for similar models, etc.

Price is good, but having limited experience wanted to get some feedback.
tnx

I own the identical tractor and I am happy with it. Not sure what you are intending to do with it, I would be more concerned if the tractor is sized for you needs rather than comparing to other 'equivalent' models.
For support I would not be too concerned about parts - the tractor is an LS which is very popular, the engine is one of the biggest selling for gensets and marine applications, transmission is made by Eaton. I don't know what dealers are available to you but LS is expanding and I think you could expect new dealers to show up in your area.

If you end up buying it send me a PM and I will email you the service manual for the tractor and for the Mitsubishi engine.

If you don't get much response here, try the LS forum. Nowadays, when I look at my Montana I see blue;)

Good luck!

The 3930 was close to a Farmtrac 390 made by LS Mtron. I sold alot of 390's, and still don't have any issues with them. They were super good tractors. As stated above, they do support an Eaton hydro which is the best in the business. Frey still makes a a front loader for them if the need arises.
