Last May I purchased a b1700 with which I've been very happy, but . . . have an opportunity to get a very low hour b2400 with FEL for $7900 and sell the 1700 to a neighbor for what I paid for it. Is this a reasonable price and is the 2400 a reliable machine? Haven't told the "little mule" I'm thinking of replacing her. Maybe I'll keep both.

I have a B2400 with a scant 180hrs on it. I love it. Mine currently has the front blower but no loader......... i hope to add the loader in the near future. Based on what i've seen, i'd say your price is good. The B2400 is not terribly different from the current 7610, so it is a well proven machine. Good luck ! :D

The only issues I ever heard mentioned relating to the B2400 / B2410 had to do with the "Bi speed turn" that was an available option. Other than that, they are bulletproof machines!

If you can buy the new one and keep the old one, do it. You'll have regrets otherwise. If you can't buy the new one without selling the old one, follow your gut feeling. Both are fine machines.

Just realized I misstated the type of tractor I'm selling, a b7100 not a 1700 so I'm getting quite a bit more power. Could keep them both but I have another obsession (motorcycles) that must be fed. Got the 2400 today. FEL is nifty - doesn't have the bi-speed turn option - only 271 hours but has some small dents on the hood (not very careful with the load?). Selling the b7100 to a friend who made fun of me for buying it but snapped it up when I told him I was looking at another tractor. Guess he doesn't think it's so funny now . . . .

Well, I love the b2400 and FEL, but I've learned a (not too) costly lesson early on about FELs, that being the fuggers stick way out there. I walloped a barn door. Gotta slow down and be more careful. Also noticed when using a multiple concrete block burdened harrow on a horse riding arena that this little sucker has a lot more grunt than the b7100. The only thing that baffles me is the rear hydraulic hitch control unit. The lever on the right, the dial under the seat. On the 7100 there was a lever, up one way, down by gravity the other. The manual is not a lot of help. Seems that the lever lifts and the dial will lock or allow it to drop. That simple? Seems more complicated. Why all the numerals along the run of the lever?

Bruski,

I got my B2400 w/120 hrs back in 99. Other than a starter that doesn't always engage (I just keep turning the key and it eventually goes), it's been a great machine.

The B2400 has position control, and the numbers indicate the height. The dial is a flow control to regulate the speed at which the 3PH raises/lowers.
