I am considering buying a Hornet BH7600 backhoe attachment for my Ford 2120 tractor. The line of Hornet backhoes are inexpensive. They are made in China. The description sounds great but I am concerned that the quality won't be there and they will not hold up. Has anyone had any experience with the Hornet line of backhoes? Thanks.

Here's the question to ask yourself - if I need a part, how do I get it? Buy a brand name piece of equipment and you won't be sorry. I would take the price of this China attachment and try to find a used Bush Hog or Woods brand backhoe. These can be found for 2000-3000 dollars in my area. Might need a coat of paint or a hose or a rebuilt cylinder, but they will hold their value and parts are readily available.

Are you planning to use this commercially or occasionally? Do you normally work your equipment "hard" or use it within reason? Pretty sure these do not have sub-frames and only use the 3ph, which could stress/crack your tractor's bell housing (if you over do it).

With that said, I think these are like the Liberty Backhoes... the "company" is no longer around. My friend bought one, had issue of over heating so he had to use 30 weight oil in it. Works fine for what little he does... but I would not expect it to hold up to much abuse.

That's a pretty big tractor... I was looking for a BH for a MF1455, which is about that size too. I wanted a good size hoe, like 8' dig depth or better. IMO, if you want to buy new, Woodmaxx is probably the best deal, assuming you'll need some decent digging forces. (The Titan hoe is a bargain if you're only digging in soft ground...) Woodmaxx carries replacement parts, they spec quality hydraulic control valves, and they stand behind their products, from what I've gathered...

FWIW, I've moved on in a different direction... I am keeping an eye out for a Bradco 509. Most of them are set up for use on a Skid Steer, but they can be converted to 3PH or subframe mount with parts available from Bradco. (Subframes not avail for all tractors...) They kick the snot out of any china hoe, and even the Ansung BH's which are really nice and powerful. And you can find them in decent condition used for less than almost any of the china hoes new. (I just missed one for $3000...) They are very heavy built, and hence very heavy comparatively, but that should be find with your tractor. They were also sold for a few years as the Edge 509. There is a 511 too, but I think it's fairly large for even a larger CUT like ours...

Good luck!!

Must my $0.02.

OK 1stDeuce. That makes sense. I think I'll go the route you suggest. Thank you.

Not using it commercially, but cleaning up large rocks, felled trees, light digging around my 35 acres. I think I've heard enough now that I'll go with a used, known brand name. Thanks for taking the time to help me with this.
