I would like some advice/ input on a trade I am considering.
I have a 2001 polaris D.U.S.E. 500 HO with the quick attach glacier plow system ($500 new) , It has 170miles on it about 64hrs. Also front & rear racks..
I use it to push snow if & when we have it in southern md. and pull my 4'x8'
yard trailer loaded with wood or what ever I need to haul. (If I trade I will just use my tractor to push the snow.)
No recreational riding at all really, It is in excellent condition with no known issues...
Now the trade:2003 Articat 300 2wd front & rear racks dual range trans ,Independant rear ,looks good from pics I've seen ,tires very good, not sure about hrs just yet I will check when I make a visit
I expect hrs. to be relatively low) It comes with a yard sprayer mounted on the rear rack ready to use with short fixed nozzles at the outside width of the atv ,It has a 15gal. capacity with hose & wand as well ...(I have been considering this setup for my wheeler but it being an automatic style trans with only Hi & Lo it would be much more difficult maintaining a steady speed on hills and such.)
I'm sure it will handle my trailer just fine even being air cooled because I just won't have very far to pull it on my small property...
Trade item #2: 2004 honda 250ex(or equivalent to EX very sporty) Looks Very clean ,great tires , hours: again not sure but assuming fairly low, manual trans.
Now the reason for considering is two fold: #1 This would give us a third four wheeler for Myself & twins sons to ride together since we already have a small four wheeler they ride from time to time...But recreational riding like I said earlier isn't going to be alot #2 The 15gal. yard sprayer, although I would prefer to get the 25gal. model for less refills...
I would like the experienced folks to let me know if the basic deal is fair minus my two reasons, and if there are any known issues with either of these two four wheelers , also would like opinions on resale values and popualrity of each unit and any other thoughts I might need to consider... DEAL or NO-DEAL
