I am considering the purchase of a new tractor. At this point I have about 30-35 acres to bush hog , need to move round hay bales. I am sure with a new tractor addition uses will develop and I may want to add implements; at this time my budget is for the tractor only.

I am considering the NH Boomer series. Would appreciate input on the tractor I need and/or your experience with particuliar Boomer models. Thank you for your help.

My suggestion would be to dig through the archives. As far as gerneral comments, I can't imagine that there can be anything said that hasn't already been said. As far as NH compacts go, my 2 cents would be to suggest you consider the series 3 Boomer (35-45HP) if you are dealing w/ round bales and working 35+ acres. Good luck.

Do you intend to move those round bales with a bale spear on the front end loader, or are you going to use something on the 3-point. Takes a bigger tractor to do it with the front end loader than the 3-point.

I'll move bale with 3 point hitch.

OK, I think you can get by with as small a tractor as a TC29, but would certainly recommend larger. I know things like the TC29 are not going to handle 5 x 5 round bales on the front, but probably would on the 3-point. However, I'm guessing a bit because the smallest tractor I've actually used to move round bales was a 50hp White. It handled round bales on the rear very easily with no counter weight of any kind on the front end. If you've made up your mind on the New Holland, I'd sure recommend you consider the TC45D first, but do believe you could make do with smaller if the budget demands it. If you decide to go smaller, just be sure to get a dealer let you try it first because, as I said, I'm guessing a bit. And of course, I think you should visit a John Deere, Case, Kubota, and maybe even Massey dealer also while you're shopping.
