Does $1800 seem like a good deal for a YM2000? I know there are a lot of variables involved, but in general, if it appears to be in good shape, runs and starts well, all parts are there and everything seems to work. I've only seen pictures and am taking the owners word for it. It is not a recon and does not look new, but it doesn't look abused either. Thanks! Chuck

Unless there is an apparent reason why the seller is desperate, I would look for the catch. That is way below what we have in one by the time it is ready for retail sale. WAY below. If there is no catch, jump on it.

Hope your very careful. Is this a private party or a dealer? Did the pictures of the tractor indicate hours on the meter?

Good luck, Mark

If you can do your own mechanical work, the only way you can go wrong at that price is if it needs an engine replacement, (cracked block). If you are not mechanically inclined, I would not recommend any gray market tractor.

The ym2000 is the big improved brother to the ym1700.. I paid 3k ( talked the owner down ffrom 3.5K) and felt I got a great deal.

Check that thing over real good. Look for oil in the water.. and water int he oil.. how does it start cold.. does it charge? doe sit leak? hyd work ok when warm? Oil pressure?

Minor problems are nothing.. say.. charging.. you are getting it so cheap that as long as the mechanicals are good.. you could do easy stuf like paint, tires, electricals.. etc.

Thanks for all the help, sorry I did not reply sooner. This was a private owner selling on eBay. It finally sold 2,225.00, heres a link if anyone is interested:

Link to eBay auction

I decided to not bid since this tractor is 10 hours drive from here and I would really like to look at it and drive it before I buy it. Even if I don't know exactly what to look for, I would still feel better seeing it first. Thanks again for the replies!

I would guess he just needed to get rid of it, perhaps moving, who knows. That price will ruin you for looking at a dealer, as it is way below what a dealer has in one. Most of the ebay sales seem to be recons and even recons aren't priced that low.

However---if you want a fair price on a good tractor along those lines, I hear tell there is a reputable dealer in SW Ohio, perhaps 2 hours south of Richwood.

I found Little Miami Trading Company not too far from here. The more I think about it, that seems like the way to go. If I buy it from a dealer like LMTC, at least I can see it before I pay for it, and I have somebody to call for help should the need arise.

I'm pretty sure I can find a cheaper deal out there, but they all seem to be half way across the country and with the "unknown" factor and shipping, etc., it just isn't worth saving a few bucks. So, now I think I know where to buy it, I just have to decide which model, and when I can afford to do it. Thanks for all of the comments!
