Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with cal xtreme root grapples? I have a 1648 mf and was wondering if the grapple would be too heavy for it, or if it would just hold up really well since the tractor shouldn't be capable of damaging it too easily. loader cap. is 2500 at the pins, and 1800ish at bucket edge. The grapple weighs 960 i think, the only reason i ask is I can get an EXTREMELY good deal on it, the cylinders and pins are missing but it's barely even scratched. What would one of these be worth in excellent shape other than missing cylinders?

Thanks, Josh

I can not speak for this grapple & don't know what your needs are but I do have some thoughts. I think much comes down to your lifestyle as to what your needs may be. When you say construction attachment suggest to me that it is not a farming tractor. If your tractor is equipped with a tachall or you are using pins. My tractor is smaller& pinned so I went with a bucket grapple because I use the bucket and grapple together and don't really have grapple specific tasks. I do like having the grapple on the bucket all the time & find I use it constantly as well as my bucket forks. I do lose a little lift capacities with the grapple on all the time but don't find it that much of a sacrifice compared to the advantages of having it on there all the time

Construction attachments is the brand. It will be used for clearing brush, grubbing rocks and roots on family property.

I was speaking to my local guy with a cnc plasma table about designing me a grapple for my bucket when he showed me this out back. I can buy it as cheap as I can make the grapple for my bucket. My original idea was just what you have, but the possibilities with the rake grapple are a little better.

Depends on what "A really good deal" is? If it is such a good deal that you could easily resell it and get your money back, then I would get it and if it works for you, then you made out. If not then sell it and start over. My personal opinion is that it is too heavy for your tractor. But if you are only brushing, then you would probably be alright. Worth a try if the price is right.;)

Sounds too heavy for your CUT. If you can resell maybe its a deal.

He's asking 1k, I don't think i'd have trouble getting that back out of it. I was concerned about the weight though, I may get it and try it, if not i'll send it on down the line.
