Tractor Sizing Contemplating the 4105

I can understand your position. The cab issue sounds as if you don't need it because you don't need to be working the tractor in harsh weather.

But I do agree with others about the tractor size. It just seems like a daunting task even at 30 acres per mowing (6 times every two years or so).

I thought my little 24 hp tractor and 5 ft cutter could mow our 33 acres (20 in fields) pretty easily. But due to hills and rough fields, it takes forever. My father bought a big old Ford (50 Hp) and 10 ft mower. It still takes a few days.

My advice, since you like the JD, is to rent a 4105 and cutter from your dealer and take a good long test drive. Determine what the tractor can do on your land specifically, determine the rate of production, and extrapolate for the whole property. This will tell your if it's acceptable or not.

Thanks, crashz. Sound advice, and I appreciate the feedback from your experiences. I'll definitely update once I get it all figured out. Thanks again.
