Controlling 3pt hitch lift speed?

Is there a way to control the lifting speed of a 3pt hitch? I have a Kubota b5100,and I am using a Kubota tiller. When I hit the lever to raise the tiller, it jumps right up. It is far too sensitive. Can this be adjusted, the manual doesn't really indicate anything about lift rate, only lowering adjustments.

There is an adjustable knob below the seat on my JD 4200 that controls the speed of descent on the 3 pt. hitch. But, I can control the ascent of the 3 pt. hitch with the lever that you are referring to in your post. Try moving it to the "up" position more slowly, or in increments - this works, at least on the JD.

I have a B7500 and I can relate to your problem. The 3 pt. hitch is extremely sensitive. More sensitive than any other tractor I have owned / operated. If not careful I jerk my implements off the ground before I can react.

I am just now starting to get the hang of operating the lift controls. My trick is I rest my hand on the fender handle to steady myself so I can just lightly adjust the lift lever. I am not sure if your tractor has the grab handles on the fenders or not.

It is difficult at first because you will hear the hydraulics before the arms begin to lift. After hearing the hydraulics kick in and nothing happens, I have a tendency to push the lever to far / fast to go ahead and make the arms begin coming up. You really need to block out the noise and just concentrate on the implement movement. A slow and steady hand will raise the arms nice and slow.
