My wife Toolbabe. Bought me a Yanmar YM3000 for Christmas. There are some controls on it that I can not figure out.
One is the knob under the seat. What dose it do? I have tried turning it but dont see anything happining. Also under the seat is a little lever. It looks like it was made out of a long roll pin. Again what is it? Then on the back just above the PTO is another lever. It has a black knob on it. Again?
Also it has a 4 speed PTO. It uses 2 gear sticks to select the speed. The sticker dose not show what RPMs the PTO will run in each gear.
Thanks TOOLS

The knob is to lock your hydraulics. The lever controls the rate / speed your three point goes up and down. The lever on the rear is mechanical lock to hold the three point in the up position.

Since we are talking controls.....

I have the sweetest little FX18D (except some idiot painted it green!!!) and there is a lever immediately to the left of the raise/lower 3pt lever. What is it supposed to do?

I'm told that the lever to the left of the 3 point control lever has something to do with a tiller depth control feature that was an option on some models. I believe I was told it was called a "UFO" or something to that effect. It seems you need a tiller with the controler built into it and the wiring connectors. Most of the grey yanmars no longer have this option in a "working condition". (due to age, weathering, lack of use, etc.,)

I have a F15D with the UFO option and it does work great.
The extra lever next to the three point lever, attaches to a cable which is hooked up to the tiller.
What it does is, set the depth of the tiller. You can lift the tiller with the three point lever and just drop it all the way when you want to continue tilling and it will drop and slow down when it is feeding into the ground and go back to the depth you had set with the second lever.
It's pretty nice if you have alot of tilling, if you are just tilling a small garden, it's pretty much useless.
I have been tilling yards for a landscaper, and it works great for the large area's that you want a controlled depth.
