Convert new holland 555e backhoe from 2WD to 4WD

Gentleman,
I would like to convert a 97 Newholland 555e shuttle shift backhoe from 2WD to 4WD. Based on the part numbers that are common, it appears that a 4WD trans and axle will fit into the machine. The bell housing is the same, as is the torque conv to flywheel mounting plate. Also rear driveshaft is the same, and the trans mount. I have found a trans and front axle with tires and rims. The only concern are that the rear axle ratio works with the new front axle, and I need to change the electrical system to add a 4WD engagement solonoid. Since I have limited resources avaliable regarding this change, does anyone have any thoughts on doing this project?

More work than I'd sign up for on a machine of that age. If you are worried about axle ratios, consult the parts catalog & see how many choices there are.

Sell it and buy a 4wd. Wiser in the long run.

I agree, too many things to go wrong with that conversion. Swap out the tractor for a 4WD model.

I agree, check ratios available from parts catalog. I doubt there were many, if any options, but check first.
