Has anyone have any experience with converting a 720 or 730 Diesel from a 24 volt electric starter to a 12 volt starter, or replacing the pony motor with a 12 volt starter? If so, what type of starter and battery did you use, and what was your experience? In weather of 50F, did it turn the diesel fast enough to start it?

I have a 720 with no starter. It originally it had a pony motor, but my grandfather removed it years ago to rebuild it and never did, and he just pulled started it with his B when he needed it to plow or disk. I have it now and want to put an electric starter in it. I have all the electric start brackets I salvaged from a and old 720 in a junk yard, so all I need is the starter.

There is a starter shop that advertises in Green Magazine . What are you doing for batteries ? Where is the starting engine now ? Most just need the fuel system cleaned and a set of coils .
