Converting 3PH Inching Control To Position Control?

I ran across this article showing a home made linkage for a 3PH hitch position control that doesn't hold "position" very well. It makes me wonder if a similar device somewhat modified could be made for converting what is sometimes referred to as "quarter inching control" to a true position control.

I've read a few posts over the last several years where owners miss the position control on an older tractor when faced with the inching control on a newer tractor. I know we have some great mechanically inclined minds here on TBN.

They were a very common and popular item with older tractors. I wish I still had some for my brush hog as there is alway some drift with my current tractors 3point stop limit.
