Converting single HST pedal to two pedal setup

I bought an L3400HST. It is a nice tractor but I still do not like the single HST pedal as well as the two pedal systems on the larger models (competitors) I test drove while shopping. After looking at the L3400 setup, it should not be difficult to modify the tractor to add a second reverse pedal without altering the factory setup. But then, if I could accomplish this, I am wondering if someone has not already come up with a kit that could be purchased. Does anyone know of such a kit?

How long have you had your tractor? If it is new then I would suggest that you try to get used to the single pedal HST. You might like it. Now, after putting some hours on my B3030, I find that the 2 pedal tractors feel awkward. With the single pedal it seems to put my leg in a more comfortable position, just like setting on a chair. The 2 pedal tractors make me stick my leg out and it seems to be more effort to change pedals. Of course, I am sure that I coulod get used to that, too. Not sure if anyone has done what you are thinking about but, I bet it could be done. Good luck and enjoy your tractor.

I agree with Toolguy. I preferred the two pedal system at the dealers while I was weighing Deere against Kubota. The two pedal system somehow felt more comfortable. But having put in some seat time, I wouldn't change the single pedal system now.

If you decide to alter it, best check what effect this might have on your warranty.

I also have an L3400HST. I have a JD355D which is two pedal so I get to drive both. The two pedal is just a bit quicker but... every now and then I hit the wrong pedal and go in the wrong direction. Lucky I was not real close to anything. It has never happened to me on the single pedal.

Maybe I'm just a klutz because I wear size 13's.

I agree with Toolguy and Inveresk. I have both and don't have a preference either way. Be sure your not putting your whole foot on the pedal.

While shopping for the right machine /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, I also tried the two pedal tractors and at that time preferred them over the single pedal. I ended up with a single pedal Kubota L2800 and the single pedal is perfect for me. I took very little time to get used to it.
Give it some time ......you can always change it later

Hopefully you can make something work. I've had Kubota tractors with a single hydro pedal for the last 4 years. I still strongly prefer dual pedals. It's just my opinion, but I think Kubota's single pedal sucks as well. I have to use the cruise control to drive the tractor or I get shin splints driving them. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Thanks guys. I did just get the tractor so I have not practiced at all. I will use it for several hours through the winter and spring before I do anything different. It usually takes me several sets of mental plans to find one to cover all the bases. My conversion ideas just involves linkage or a cable to attach to the back of the existing pedal then connected under the platform to second pedal beside the forward part of the factory pedal. No new holes or alterations to the factory setup.
