I have a 730 gas and there seems to be coolant that just pools up on the top of the block. I was dealing with a gas tank problems and just assumed it was gas leaked from having to pull the plug on the tank to unclog. (No i didn't smell it, I just cleaned it up because the gas tank leaked directly above it.) Well now that's fixed and I thought crap it's leaking again. So I dipped my finger in it and smelled and sure enough it's coolant. The spot where the fan meets the back of the motor looks like it's leaking, but that should be oil, not coolant, right? Now I know to the front of where this liquid pools up is the coolant up to the radiator, well that's never looked wet at all. Motor running or not. Also my exhaust manifold steams up where you first starts it and that goes away after it's been warmed up.

Not familiar with your model, but I was first thinking water pump gasket, but the steaming when first started has me thinking head gasket.

The threaded studs that screw into the head for the manifold are open to the coolant on the inside. The leak possibly could be fixed by removing the manifold and then removing the studs and sealing the threads and reassembling.

Ok I have a new gasket set ordered for the manifolds. When I go to put everything back together what type of sealant should i use?

Teflon paste sealer on the threads

I traded for a 730 diesel with pony engine last summer, it was nice, power steering, flat top fenders with lights, 3 pt. hitch in great condition with original toplink etc. Drove it around the house several times then a couple months later hauled it to a show about an hour away. Unloaded it and drove it 50 feet and the power steering stopped working, checked fluid and it was full. Man came by looking at it and said "your fans not turning". I said that explains why the power steering quit. The fan shaft runs through the P.S. pump, turns the fan, generator & water pump. There's a lot happening on that shaft! I brought it back home, pulled the hood and realized what all had to be taken off to get the fan shaft out. I put it on craigslist, had one guy interested in it as is, he bought it. I talked to him about a week later and he found the problem. The woodruff key sheared on the governor shaft gear that turns the fan shaft, a $.75 key caused a lot of headache, for him, not me. He had to pull the P.S, radiator & pony engine off to get the shaft out. I am glad I sold it, lol. I don't think he has it fixed yet and that was in August when he bought it. Good luck with your water leak!

Can it leak through the fan shaft? That's where it looks like it's coming from actually. I just wanna get it to stop leaking! lol
